The workshop – “Well-being, plausibly” civil society’s initiatives, tools and challenges to improve the quality of life of people and territoriesis being organized by the Association for Social Promotion Lunaria in the framework of the Web-COSI European project’s initiatives.

The workshop will be held in Rome (Porta Futuro, via Galvani 108, in the historical Testaccio district) on Tuesday, April 21st. During this one-day open event, and thanks to the participation of experts, researchers and activists, we will speak of well-being and new technologies, civic engagement and “2.0 statistics” for societal innovation and sustainable development.

The presentation of some among the most innovative, promising and smart experiences carried out by Italian civil society organizations in these fields will be associated with an intensive debate on well-being, its main aspects and determinants, the most suitable interactive tools and practices with which it can be measured, monitored, fostered.

In the morning session the issue of well-being will be presented and discussed in its multi-dimensionality, with particular attention to social and environmental sustainability and the use of statistical indicators which supplant the limits of the GDP in the formulation of policy decisions fully informed, forward-looking, attentive to citizens’ real needs. In the afternoon session, the focus will be on the issues of citizens’ engagement and the impact of new technologies in promoting well-being and the quality of life throughout local communities and territories.

The workshop is free: a simultaneous translation service (Italian-English and English-Italian), a coffee break and a lunch break will be provided for all the participants. For those who will not be able to join the Rome event, the workshop will be entirely live streamed in English on the Web-COSI homepage from 10am CEST (9am BST).
